SEE SPOT RUN
Study to show thyself, approved
unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the Word of truth.
II Timothy 2:15
I’ve been thinking lately about some folks that had a strong influence in my early years of life. I’m sure there were many but there is one lady that I look back on with such gratitude. Her name was Miss Irene, my first grade teacher. She had been called by that name since she had taught some of our parents. She was a little on the heavy side, with dark hair in an updo as was in that day. I feel such a gratitude for this sweet teacher who taught our class a special skill that I have taken very personally…she taught me how to read.
You and I could hardly exist if we didn’t know how to read. In early years, our reading was confined pretty much to books…school, comic and children’s classics. But now, think how we could hardly make it in this life if we didn’t know how to read. We couldn’t rely on everyone to read to us. Without reading, we couldn’t write either.
Here's my point of gratitude. Miss Irene taught me a skill not just to get me through school and life in general, but through it, I was able to read a Bible. There are times I turn in my Bible and think about her. She taught us to read by sight, sound, and lots of repetition. However it was taught it is a skill I will take with me to Heaven because of Miss Irene. A simple word of gratitude could never ne enough.
Father,
it sounds so simple being grateful for a skill everyone has been taught. Just in reading Your Word, I’ve come to know
You and Your salvation. I love reading
Your Word and thank You for its availability.
In Jesus’ precious name…Amen
